Cal-Chem Corporation History

Cal-Chem Corporation was founded in 1965. We pioneered the development of high-tech, safe, biodegradable, non-toxic Chelants for derouging and passivation for the Biotech and Pharmaceutical Industries, Nuclear, Power, Petrochemical, Electronic, Refineries and Chemical Plants, Food and Beverage Industries.

Cal-Chem Corporation recognized the need for environmentally sound and effective passivation services which would greatly reduce the environmental liabilities associated with the use of hazardous, corrosive and toxic process materials. We have developed and further perfected proprietary techniques which utilize non-toxic, biodegradable materials for highly effective chelating/sequestering systems and passivation/corrosion control method.

Traditionally, highly toxic chemicals were used to accomplish these processes, resulting in the dumping of residual waste products including carcinogens and heavy metals – which pose serious environmental and health risks. The cleaning materials utilized by are non-toxic and biodegradable, waste effluents in many cases can be safely channeled to sanitary sewer disposal (with cognizant agency approval). Our non-toxic methods effectively eliminate these hazards and in turn significantly reduce potential long-term federal, state and local liability exposure.

Our passivation technology has evolved over the past forty five years through its commitment to developing effective and practical solutions for a broad spectrum of markets. We focus on providing high quality technical services by establishing strong relationships with our clients. We pride ourselves in being able to respond within 24 hours of our client’s requests and develop a passivation solution to their needs. Our Turn Over Packages (TOP), training, safety procedures, calibration records, chemical certification, and standard operating procedures meet regulatory requirements. We offer unique and diversified custom applied passivation and cleaning procedures to meet our client’s unique requirements.

Our technical cleaning services are essentially accomplished on site with specialized trailer and flatbed mounted mobile equipment, which is fully portable and modular in design for self-sufficiency at the job site.  A typical unit incorporates circulating tanks, steam generators for heating, heat exchanger, variable capacity centrifugal and high pressure positive displacement pumps and manifold piping for chemical application.

Passivation services can be performed at our clients site or at Cal-Chem Corporation’s comprehensive yard facility for processing of piping and many varied components of all sizes and configurations.  We can provide mobile laboratories equipped to handle on site chemical and physical analyses used to determine contaminants and provide verification data. Incorporated are mobile clean rooms for quality control analysis as well as field precision cleaning and packaging.
